CALL FOR HOST 2027
PURPOSE OF THE CALL
As the European Sport Congress moves into its next edition, the Secretariat is opening a formal Call for Hosts, inviting organisations across Europe to apply to organise and co-curate a future edition of the Congress under license.
This model allows the EUSC brand, curatorial standards, and accumulated know-how to be paired with the operational strength, local knowledge, and networks of a hosting organisation. The Secretariat continues to act as the curator and brand owner of the Congress — safeguarding its identity, editorial quality, and long-term direction — while the Host is responsible for delivering an outstanding edition on the ground.
Licensing model
The EUSC operates on a curator-and-license model: the Secretariat retains creative and quality control over the Congress, while the Host is responsible for the operational delivery of the edition in its city.
Eligibility Criteria
The Call is open to a range of organisation types, assessed on a case-by-case basis against the criteria in this document, including:
- Universities and academic institutions.
- City councils and public sport authorities.
- National or regional sport federations and Olympic/sport committees.
- Private event or agency organisations with relevant experience.
Applicants may bid individually or as part of a consortium — for example, pairing a city or venue partner with an academic institution and/or a sport organisation, consistent with the model used in previous editions. There is no requirement to form a consortium; both formats are welcome.
Minimum expectations
• Demonstrable experience organising conferences or events of a comparable scale (100+ participants).
• Financial capacity to fund the upfront costs of the event.
• Genuine alignment with, and willingness to formally commit to, the EUSC’s values of sustainability, open access, and inclusion.
Brand, intellectual property & values compliance
The EUSC Secretariat retains full ownership of the EUSC name, logo, and visual identity, its digital platforms, and its historical archive, including past communications, the Book of Abstracts, and the contact database built up across editions.
The Host is granted a temporary, non-exclusive licence to use the EUSC name and visual identity, solely for the promotion and delivery of its licensed edition. This licence expires at the close of that edition and does not extend to any future use of the brand.
As a binding condition of the Hosting Agreement, the Host formally commits to upholding the EUSC’s three core values — Sustainability, Open Access, and Inclusion — throughout the planning and delivery of the edition. Compliance will be reviewed by the Secretariat before, during, and after the event, and may affect the Host’s eligibility for future editions.
